Shoreline Change Analysis
Shoreline change analysis and prediction have become an integral part of coastal zone management. Within our Enterprise database, CPE analysts measure differences in past and present shoreline locations within a geographic information system by extracting historical shoreline positions from various datasets and quantifying shoreline change. This is especially critical to applications where future shorelines need to be estimated based on various scenarios so that the best technical measure or management strategy can be decided. The ability to review historic shoreline positions in a given area over time gives CPE engineers and project managers the tools they need to make informed decisions and explain the implications of past and future shoreline changes to our clients.
