Remote Sensing and Spectral Analysis

CPE’s GIS analysts perform both qualitative and quantitative analysis by using the information content of imagery and remote sensed datasets to make decisions and support spatial queries. The analysts extract information either thru automation such as image classification or other statistical means. Often, numerical patterns are formed, which can assist algorithms in statistically classifying imagery and aid in decision making about relationships involving surface features. There are various methods for converting image-based information into GIS vector data, which facilitates geoprocessing, archival in spatial databases and the creation of maps and visualizations. CPE professionals realize the quantitative value of remotely sensed imagery and datasets and understand the paramount importance to GIS.
