Coastal Engineering

Coastal Structures

In certain locations with very high rates of erosion, referred to as erosional "hot spots," beach nousirhment alone may not totally address the problem. In these severe cases, surgical use of coastal structures such as groins, breakwaters, can be very effective. Used in combination with sand placement, coastal structures can greatly increase the stability of the beach. CPE's engineers use years of experience and sophisticated state-of-the-art modeling techniques, such as DELFT 3D and MIKE 21, to predict the performance of different types of structures in varying configurations to surgically address erosional hotspots. This combination of experience and expertise allows CPE to design cost-effective, site-specific structures with proven long-term performance for property protection from storm activity and sea-level rise. Over 25 years, CPE's engineers have designed and managed the construction of over 30 successful coastal structuress projects.
