Coastal Engineering

Inlet Management & Navigation studies

Coastal inlets often pose interdependent issues of maintaining navigation requirements and addressing inlet-caused erosion of coastal banks and downdrift beaches. CPE's coastal engineers are highly experienced in evaluating navigational requirements, inlet hydrodynamics and sediment budgets to develop the most effective maintenance options and conserve valuable sand resources. Sand bypassing with placement of inlet maintenance sediments on downdrift beaches and channel reorientation are alternatives for consideration that can address both navigation interests and adjacent beach erosion issues.
