Between January and March 2006 a hurricane restoration and beach renourishment project was constructed for the Midtown (Reach 3 and 4) coastline. Dredge contractor Great Lakes Dredge and Dock (GLDD) placed approximately 880,000 cubic yards of sand along the 2.1 mile project area. The borrow area was located approximately 3 miles north-northeast of the center of the project site, and was the same borrow area as employed in 2003.
