Daily Synopsis for 23 February 2005
The Coastal Planning and Engineering (CPE) team and GFA International personnel arrived at Longboat Pass at 6:00 a.m., when they boarded the barge and headed out to the site. By 7:30 a.m., both the barge and the support vessel were on site and prepared to begin vibracore operations. By 8:00 a.m. the first vibracore was taken.

Clear weather and favorable sea conditions allowed the crew to work at a steady pace all day. By 2:00 p.m., twelve vibracores had been retrieved, logged, sampled, and photographed. Those vibracores plus four taken on the previous day comprised sixteen vibracores that were proposed for the primary target area. The team concentrated on the edge of the ebb-tidal shoal, collecting five more vibracores by the end of the day. Seventeen vibracores were thus collected for the day. The CPE team and barge arrived at Longboat Key Pass around 7:30 p.m.

Daily Synopsis for 22 February 2005
On Tuesday (22 February 2005), teams from CPE and GFA International arrived at the dock around 7:00 a.m. and began mobilizing the barge for vibracoring operations. The barge is scheduled to be fully mobilized and on site late Tuesday evening. Vibracore operations should begin early Wednesday morning.

Daily Synopsis for 21 February 2005
On Monday (21 February 2005), mobilization for the vibracoring phase of the project began. Three CPE geologists left Boca Raton after noon and drove to the Tampa area where the mobilization of the barge would take place. The team arrived just south of Tampa in Gibsonton around 7:00 p.m. and met with the drilling team from GFA International. The equipment to be mobilized was stored in the boat yard over night for loading in the morning.

Daily Synopsis for 16 February 2005
The Coastal Planning and Engineering (CPE) team arrived on Wednesday Morning (at 7:00 a.m.) at the R.V. Gilbert dock on the Eckerd College campus where the team met Rick Horgan of Sonographics. By 7:15, necessary preparations had been made and the vessel was underway.

The team was on site by 8:20 a.m. and began deploying the instruments. Speed of sound readings were taken in order to properly adjust the depth sounder. Some final preparations were made with the Edgetech 512i sub-bottom profiler and the first survey line began at 9:04 a.m.

The crew concentrated on the area from Line 004-019 as well as shore perpendicular lines 103-106 in order to cover the primary target area. By 3:00 p.m., the primary target area had been surveyed and further investigation of other potential areas was initiated. The last line was completed at 5:05 p.m.; by 5:15 all instruments had been retrieved and the R.V. Gilbert headed back to the dock. Approximately 24 line miles were completed. Demobing began at 6:15 p.m. when the vessel arrived at the dock. The CPE team left the Eckerd College campus at 7:00 en route to Anna Maria Island to download tide data from the gauge that was deployed on Monday (14 February) prior to survey operations.

Daily Synopsis for 15 February 2005
The Coastal Planning and Engineering(CPE) team arrived at the R.V. Gilbert dock on the campus of Eckerd College at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday Morning. The CPE survey team met with Rick Horgan of Sonographics, Inc. and began the vessel mobilization process. Necessary preparations had been made by 8:45 a.m. and the vessel was underway.

The CPE team was on site by 10:00 a.m. and began deploying the instruments. Speed of sound readings were taken in order to properly adjust the depth sounder. Some final preparations were made with the Edgetech 512i sub-bottom profiler and the first survey line was initiated at 11:00 a.m.

The survey regimen included survey of every third line in order to quickly obtain partial coverage over the entire survey area. Approximately 12.5 line miles were completed when survey operations were curtailed at 5:10 p.m. Instruments were retrieved and the vessel was docked by 6:20 to end the day.
